Larry P. Tackett

Larry is a professional photographer and videographer who specializes in marine subjects and is particularly interested in depicting uniqueness and behavior in his imagery. His photographs and articles have been widely published in books and magazines worldwide. Along with his wife, Denise, he presents seminars and workshops at dive shows such as Beneath the Sea, Our World Underwater and Seaspace as well as leading groups to exotic dive destinations in the Indo-Pacific. Their latest book The Essential Underwater Photography Manual, A Guide to Creative Techniques and Equipment was published earlier this year. His most memorable moment underwater was being able to document, and record on video, a male pygmy seahorse giving birth, never before seen behavior.

What I look for in a Dive Operator:
In today\'s market any dive operator that wants to succeed will need to provide their services in a professional and efficient manner. That to me is a given. Mechanically sound and seaworthy boats, well maintained equipment, timely operations, and friendly staff. What sets one operator apart from another, for me, is the knowledge and experience of the dive guides. With my interest in behavior and unique animals, I especially appreciate guides who know about the animals in their area, and who are comfortable talking and working with photographers. Dive operators that hire, train, and motivate local dive guides get my support every time.
