I dive since 1992 but started taking digital UW images in 2002. I worked as instructor and divemaster in French Polynesia and the Red Sea during a sabbatical in 1999. After many years of civil service in the EU fisheries directorate in VBrussels, I am now enjoying an early retirement and getting ready to dive and photograph the seas of Mediterranean Spain, where I was born..
What I look for in a Dive Operator:
I am not very demanding. But I appreciate the understanding of the requirements of photographers, a minimum of facilities for cameras onboard and at the dive centre. Good dive guides are a huge plus, but I like to find my subjects myself as well! It makes the shot more memorable. It is important that divemasters show respect for animals and the habitat. I'd rather not take the shot than harass the critter.
