What I look for in a Dive Operator:
The choice of operator is such a key consideration. The prime thing I look for is an understanding of photographers particular needs and flexibility when dealing with experienced divers. I like dealing with dive centers that are responsive to requests for information, even before my visit. This particularly helps when planning the timing of a trip. Experienced guides who know their dive sites are essential. A good boat crew is also a real plus, especially when diving in challenging conditions as they can make all the difference when getting yourself and your precious equipment in and out of the water as fast as possible. All these things are in addition to my basic requirements of a safety conscious and environmentally responsible approach.
