Matt S Krumins
Back in 2001 I was on a holiday to Green Island in QLD when I tripped and fell into the ocean. Soon after I discovered I was scuba diving the foundation of my diving career was set.
I completed my Open Water and Advanced Open Water about a year later on Flinders Island in the Bass Strait. After a couple of dry years my love of diving was re-ignited mid 2008 when I joined up with Academy of Scuba on the journey of a lifetime.
After meeting the crew and club members I learnt that life at the beach rain, hail, or shine was my calling. These days I amSexy_Matt.jpg a permanent fixture in Port Phillip Bay, sharing the underwater world through photography.
That being said, diving to me is more than just what we do underwater, it is about the community you become a part of and getting involved as an active member of our underwater society.
Whilst Victorian diving has a huge amount to offer (namely the Mornington Peninsula Piers) sometimes it’s just not possible to get down there and it’s easier to get to the international terminal at the airport. My favourite international dive site would have to be Sihanookville in Cambodia. Waking up in the morning for a 2 hour lazy junk boat ride across the crystal clear bay followed by a 27 degree dive and a home-cooked Cambodian meal on the island is priceless (or $799 return with Jetstar – shameless plug).
