Crystal clear water, like diving in air, Fanghorn Forest Room, Dan’s Cave, Abaco, Bahamas
Kewin Lorenzen, the newest DPG Photographer of the Week, lives and works a long way from home! Hailing originally from Denmark, Kewin now plies his trade in the warmer, clearer, sharkier waters of the Bahamas. As a working dive professional, Kewin’s job now ties in directly with his passion for the ocean and the underwater realm in general.
While his background is engineering, Kewin now works as a professional underwater photographer and videographer in the Bahamas. A man wearing many hats, he also uses his engineering skills to create 3D, interactive, and digital maps of the underwater world, especially caves. As you’ll see here, while his portfolio does feature a Bahamian favorite (sharks), there are a lot of cave images as well. Kewin is also on the board of directors of the non-profit People of the Water, the goal of which is to “change the relationships people have with our aquatic world through exploration, education, and conservation.”
Several of the images featured here were made by Kewin specifically to show the relationship between people and water, and are infused with a sense of fantasy and adventure. Kewin’s portfolio is refreshing and diverse, from nudis to great hammerheads to an underwater archer. Regardless of your personal taste, chances are there is an image in here for you!
