Very few underwater photographers would be recognized on sight, but if you are a connoisseur of dive magazines, then you will likely have seen Jade Hoksbergen. Jade is a very well-known model, and she has graced magazine covers and marketing images. Being an underwater model is not something that most of us could do, but this is not what is most impressive about Jade. No, it is her skill as a photographer that blows people away!

Growing up around Cebu in the Philippines, Jade has been able to hone her craft in some of the best dive sites on the planet. While she has many well-known shots, it is her creative work with little critters that stands out. She is not content to take well-framed shots. Jade constantly pushes the technical abilities of her camera and lights in an effort to come up with new and creative ways to shoot favorite subjects.

Jade is the kind of person that will constantly surprise you the more you get to know her. It turns out that she is not only a fantastic underwater model, world-class photographer, and all-around great person—she is also skillful with the pen, or keyboard as it may be these days. Jade is the co-author, with her husband Henley Spiers, of the forthcoming Let’s Go Dive Guide to Cebu, an extensive dive guide that features her home of Cebu and the surrounding islands. Be sure to check out this soon-to-be-released book, where you can appreciate her writing skills and photography. Oh, and yes, that is her shot on the cover!
