An underwater photographer and dive instructor with a passion for pelagic animals and wide-angle photography, Giacomo Rossi first developed his love for the ocean in the Red Sea while working as a dive guide on a liveaboard back in 2009. During these early days, he focused mainly on underwater videography, before eventually switching to still photography, with impressive results.

He has been living in Mexico since 2011, first in Cozumel, and now in La Paz, Baja California Sur, where he established his company, Baja Underwater Expeditions, which offers personalized ecotourism adventures around the peninsula to encounter its most exciting residents and visitors. The Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez is home to a variety of shark species, sea lions, whales, sailfish, marlin, mobula rays and even orcas, and his portfolio is a showcase of the region’s most iconic megafauna in all their glory.

The dark blue water of Baja provides the perfect backdrop for each wide-angle subject, and he has also included some nice black and white conversions and behavior shots for good measure. Giacomo’s goal is to transmit his passion for the sea by leading epic expeditions and sharing his excellent underwater images. And like so many underwater shooters, he hopes his efforts will inspire others to help take part in the conservation of the ocean and its inhabitants.
