For Fred Buyle, becoming an artist was pre-programmed in his genes.
Born into a legacy of great painters and photographers, Fred's exposure to visual stimulation from an early age helped shape his now very successful photographic career. At the tender age of eight years old, he began freediving, and competed internationally for ten years, achieving four world records and numerous accolades within the discipline.
But as his competitive career began to wane, freediving soon became merely a means to capturing the underwater world. Today, Fred photographs only by on breath of air at a time, as to limit his impact on the natural environment and get as close as possible to his subjects without disturbing them.
Without the camera, Fred also specializes in free dive shark tagging and has already managed to tag great hammerhead sharks, scalloped hammerhead sharks, lemon sharks, Galapagos sharks and great white sharks.
