For underwater photographer Volker Lonz, every minute spent above water is just one long safety stop.
A self-confessed compressed-air junkie, Volker began diving in 2000 and has accumulated more than 1,700 dives under his [weight]belt since. But his passion for diving really took off when he picked up his first compact camera—a Sony Cybershot—and discovered what images he could bring back from his travels.
Volker’s diversity of images reflect the diversity in his travels—from Indonesia, to Thailand, Greece, Hawaii, and beyond. His reef scenic are especially mesmerizing, capturing a variety of bold, beautiful elements all in one frame to tell a story. His macro images leave nothing wanted, showing rare behaviors only witnessed by someone who spends every waking moment waiting to get back in the water.
