Finding a new perspective on a whale shark in the Philippines
For Photographer of the Week Tommy Schultz, board shorts casual is the norm. A life spent behind a desk isn’t an option for this former fly fishing instructor turned non-profit deck hand turned Peace Core warrior.
After spending a few years in the Philippines as a volunteer for the Peace Corps, this Virginia native’s love for travel, adventure, and capturing the Earth’s rich landscapes, became engrained into his everyday livelihood. He began selling his images and writing stories for magazines in order to maintain his life amongst the waves, and fell victim to the enchantment of Bali, which he has called home since 2007.
Tommy’s images range in content and mood, as his work is rich with color, action, and diversity. From silhouettes of Bali at dusk to the turbulence of a surfer’s lair, the viewer is tossed into a snapshot of adventurous pursuit, and is left desperately wanting to join in on the action.
