Photographer of the Week – Sergio Riccardo
By Joseph Tepper, March 24, 2016 @ 05:00 AM (EST)

Nothing could stop Sergio Riccardo from exploring the ocean—not even the lack of a boat. At just 10 years of age, Sergio finagled the metal frame of an umbrella into a small raft and began to fish in his backyard waters of Italy.

That passion and unrelenting effort to push the bounds of exploring remote and rare ocean sights continues in Sergio’s career as an underwater photographer and expedition leader. In 1983, the Italian photographer packed his bags for the Maldives and never looked back, honing his craft in this biodiverse location.

Soon, he wanted not only to bring back photos from the ocean, but to bring divers to destinations they’d only dreamed of through his company, Diving Tour. His experience in destinations, from the Galápagos to Papua New Guinea, is evident in the excellence of his imagery.
