Based in Barcelona, Spain, Martin Mayobre has always felt a deep connection to the underwater world. As a teenager, he dreamed of studying marine biology, but recurring ear problems—and thus the belief that he’d never be able to dive—led him to pursue audio engineering instead. His career took shape in the live production world, with a focus on video work.

After learning in 2016 that his eardrum had recovered and he'd be able to dive, Martin says his entire life changed. Although his diving journey began later in life, he’s been fully committed ever since, taking every available opportunity to explore underwater environments from his home waters in the Mediterranean to far-flung destinations across the globe. Southeast Asia quickly became a favorite, with Indonesia standing out as his top destination for its incredible biodiversity.

Martin’s photography began on a trip to Utila—the smallest of Honduras’ major Bay Islands—where he brought along a GoPro. The desire to better capture the vivid memories of his dives led him to invest in a higher-end camera and lighting setup. That sparked a deep passion for photography—not just underwater, but for wildlife in general. After upgrading to a mirrorless camera and quality strobes, he feels the creative possibilities are endless!
