Underwater, we all share the same language. This is one of the main reasons that Bridget Glynn loves diving and the underwater realm: She is deaf, and finds paradise in the deep, where others cannot speak, and all are equal. Originally from Boston, Bridget began her underwater adventures while on backpacking trips during breaks from college. She’d take her trusty GoPro HERO1, and off she’d go to some far-flung destination in search of aquatic adventures.
Before graduating, Bridget simply Googled “art, travel, and scuba,” and to her surprise, an underwater photography internship in Mozambique turned up; she signed up immediately. Her trip to Mozambique was her first time using a “real” camera, and she immediately knew she’d found her passion. In the years since, she has traveled extensively. She completed her divemaster certification and lived in Curaçao, working as an underwater photographer.
Bridget now calls Australia home. She works as a dive guide on day boats and liveaboards, the perfect gig to spend as much time as possible in the water—and working on her craft. And if you think that during her time off she’d opt to stay high and dry, think again! She travels all over southeast Asia, from Bali, to the Lembeh Strait, in pursuit of new underwater experiences and new photographic opportunities.
