A quick peek at Photographer of the Week Alastair Pollock’s portfolio unveils a richly colorful set of images drawn from varying bucket list destinations around the world. It is apparent that this Aussie likes to get off the rock and wheel his gear towards adventure. But be not fooled by this seasoned photographer’s experience, for he has already spent the past 20 of his 35 years on Earth taking his passion beneath the waves.

What I particularly like about Alastair’s work is that in every frame, there is a meeting of light, composition and color balance. More importantly, there is an element of the moment captured that feels like he genuinely caught a split second in time that not even the subject was aware of. Pulling all of these elements and principles together is not easy, but when it happens, it is truly glorious.
