“This Is Your Ocean: Sharks,” World Premiere

In words of director and producer, George C. Schellenger, “The decisions we make right now determine the future of these animals and the future of our oceans. “  His documentary, “This Is Your Ocean: Sharks,” will not only premier on April 29th at the Newport Beach Film Festival, but will also be the Festival’s Eco Spotlight feature.

The main focus of the 44 minute film is the sharks of the Bahamas, but it also includes footage and touches on shark issues around the world. 

In addition to Dr. Sylvia Earle's narration, Schellenger worked with threee well known and knowledgeable conservationists and artist to get their unique perspectives sharks and the ocean.  The film takes viewers shark diving in the Bahamas with Wyland, Harvey and Abernathy with the objective of changing the public’s perception of sharks, dispelling myths and misconceptions, and conveying the message of why sharks are so important to our oceans and why we need to protect them.
