Love eating seafood, but concerned about your impact on the environment and worried about mercury? Well, fear no longer, because Sierra Club has come up with a guide to eating and enjoying sustainable seafood, so that you can “save the seas with your diet.”
The guide details seafood to avoid (i.e. imported shrimp, farmed salmon, tuna, etc.) and seafood to choose (i.e. spiny lobster, U.S. farmed scallops, Pacific U.S. halibut etc.), discusses the pros and cons of wild-caught and farmed seafood, and even goes over the various methods of catching seafood that are particularly devastating to marine life.
For you smartphone users, there is even a link for an app that helps you choose sushi with lower mercury levels.
Arm yourself with the guide here.
