Guys, ever feel like you have to have to pull over underwater and ask the parrotfish for direction?
It turns out that female divers have a better sense of orientation and calmness underwater than their male buddies, a new study finds.
“Women have better orientation," said Mandy Shackleton, a marine scientist at Hull University's marine sciences center. "They have a greater awareness of what is going on around them."
Men were also more prone to show off underwater, resulting in a loss of control and buoyancy. From an ecological standpoint, experts argue that the results are evidence that male over confidence underwater damages coral reefs.
"Men should try to relax and develop good breathing techniques to maintain control and minimize damage when they go scuba diving," said Shackleton.
