Video: Whale Breaches Feet from Underwater Photographer
By Joseph Tepper, October 11, 2016 @ 05:40 PM (EST)
Underwater photography mantra: Get close, then get closer—but not this freakin’ close!
Underwater and surf shooter Beau Pilgrim captured an incredible scene of a 40-ton humpback whale breaching the surface and then plopping down just a few feet away. Call it awesome, or call it scary—but this is one encounter the Australian photographer isn’t likely to soon forget.
“It was the most surreal and incredible experience last week in Tonga, being metres from this Humpback Whale when it breached and landed next to me,” Beau posted on Facebook. “Such an amazing adrenaline rush!”
After you’ve replayed that stunning GoPro footage a few (or many) times, make sure to checkout Beau’s website or follow him on Facebook.
