A couple days ago Canon released its latest crop-sensor SLR camera the 20.2MP 70D.
While the camera did contain the normal upgrades expected as successor to the 60D it also came with one very tantalizing upgrade, the so called "Dual Pixel CMOS AF" sensor that essentially allows each pixel to be split into two photodiodes. These photodiodes will then allow phase-detection AF which is generally much better than contrast-detection based AF in live view and video modes.
To demonstrate this cool new feature, the folks at Canon decided to make a movie. The result, to those who have been shooting SLR video for the last few years, is really promising. Although in some cases using the touch screen to change focus point is demonstrated, overall it looks very attractive for moving macro subjects and free-swimming animals like turtles and sharks underwater.
