Video: Chilean Navy Rescues Whale
The Chilean Navy sprang into action earlier this week by saving a whale tangled in a net. Local fishermen raised the alarm when they spotted the sizable cetacean struggling to swim off of the Chilean coast.
Hoping into the rough, cold seas in the Patagonia region is no easy task. And so, the Navy sent in specially trained divers—who appear to be using scuba tanks and wearing tough drysuits to brave the conditions. Supplied with only small knives, it took a coordinated effort to untangle the massive whale.
“The ships successfully freed this whale in spite of the danger in the waters where the whale was found,” Chilean Navy captain Cesar Quiroga said in a video interview.
