Venus Optics has announced Canon RF-mount and Nikon Z-mount versions of its Laowa 24mm f/14 Macro Probe lens. Until now, the lens has only been available with Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony FE, Fujifilm X, PL, and Cine mounts. The company is also bringing its Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye and Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D lenses to RF- and Z-mount mirrorless camera systems.
Constructed with 27 elements in 19 groups, the Laowa 24mm Macro Probe lens provides a 2:1 magnification ratio, offers a minimum focusing distance of just 0.8 inch (2cm), and features an LED array around the front element to ensure tiny subjects are perfectly lit. While Venus Optics has various sample images and videos captured with the lens on its product page, the radical perspective offered by the lens underwater is best appreciated in Backscatter’s fascinating review article.
Available to order starting November 5th, the new RF-mount and Z-mount options for the Laowa 24mm f/14 Macro Probe, Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye and Laowa 9mm f/2.8 lenses are expected to retail for ¥220,000 (~$1,950), ¥73,000 (~$650) and ¥28,000 (~$250), respectively.
