Upcoming NYUPS Meeting: Photographing Divers
By Joseph Tepper, October 14, 2016 @ 01:07 PM (EST)

The next meeting of the New York Underwater Photographic Society (NYUPS) will take place on Tuesday, October 18th—and will be dedicated to taking better images of divers.

Whether you want to photograph your buddy for souvenir photos or coordinate with a model as an extra compositional element, meeting attendees will learn a lot from the pro shooters in the group.

And then attendees are encouraged to share their own images of divers for praise and advice for improvement. As always, NYUPS is free to attend, and photographers/divers of all levels are encouraged to come share some images, drinks and food with this fun and relaxed group. More details can be found below in the email from NYUPS.

What: October NYUPS Meeting – Photographing Divers
When: October 18th, 2016 (7–9 PM)
Where: Alpha Fusion Restaurant (365 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001)

PRESS RELEASE

NOTE: This month, the meeting will take place on TUESDAY, October 18th.

Much of our time underwater is spent photographing beautiful things—fish, sharks, reefs, and wrecks. But sometimes, we want to photograph the least graceful subjects underwater—divers.

At the October meeting of NYUPS (Tuesday, October 18th), we will be talking about how to take better images of divers. Whether you want to take quality souvenir snaps of your buddy or use a diver as a model in the frame, we'll help you improve your images. The meeting will kick off with a short presentation on techniques for photographing divers—from the proper gear, to communication tips, and lighting techniques.

Then, we want to see your images of divers! It doesn’t matter if it’s just a pic of your buddy or a complex modeling image—submissions from all levels of photography are encouraged. The group will laud them and provide suggestions for improvement along the way.

IMAGE SUBMISSION:

Please email 8-10 images of divers to Joe Tepper with the subject line “NYUPS – Divers.” If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on flash drive.

Please submit all images no later than Monday, October 17th. After that, we cannot accept anymore entries (without free beers for the NYUPS crew).

We hope to see you and your wonderful images on Tuesday, October 18th.
