Tomorrow is World Oceans Day, and after virtual-only events over the past two years, the occasion is being celebrated with its first hybrid event, hosted in-person at the UN Headquarters in New York and broadcast live. The organizers are inviting everyone to tune in to the live broadcast, from 10am to 1:30pm.
This year’s theme is “Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean” and you’ll be able to hear keynote speeches, panels, and presentations from thought leaders, celebrities, community voices, private sector and cross-industry experts, and ocean managers to discover how we can ignite collaborative change for the ocean and all that it sustains.
The program includes a presentation by famed marine biologist and explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle, the announcement of the finalists and winners of the Ninth United Nations World Oceans Day Photo Competition, hosted by DPG, and a musical performance by Syrian-American singer-songwriter Bedouine.
Beginning at 10am EDT and ending at 1:30pm EDT on June 8th, the live event broadcast can be watched on the UN World Oceans Day website, UN Web TV, Oceanic Global website, or Oceanic Global Facebook page. The results of the UN World Oceans Day Photo Competition will also be announced on DPG (at 11:30am).
