In order to capture brown bears hunting sockeye salmon, wildlife photographer Mike Korostelev traveled to the Kamchatka Peninsula in Eastern Russia. The peninsula, which lies between the Sea of Okhotsk and the northern Pacific Ocean, is home to pristine rivers, lakes, and forests. It is also the final resting place for millions of sockeye salmon that each autumn make their way inland to spawn in Lake Kuril. It is actually the largest aggregation of salmon in the world and for the brown bears that reside on the tip of the peninsula it is an all you can eat buffet.
According to earthtouchnews.com, Korostelev did not feel threatened by the bears and instead said they are very tolerant towards wildlife photographers which frequent the region. The amazing footage Korostelev captured was done so using a GoPro on a pole. Other wildlife in the region includes river otters, foxes, white-tailed golden and stellar sea eagles.
