The Turks & Caicos Tourist Board has announced the winners of the “Third Annual Turks & Caicos Underwater Photographic Competition”. The three Grand Prize winners - two of whom were women - share $10,000 in cash awards and their photographs will be issued by the Government of the Islands as official, commemorative Postage Stamps.
Alexander “Roddy” McLeod of Discovery Bay, Providenciales won First Place in the Competition and $5,000 with this photograph of a Giant Anemone (Condylactis gigantea). The shot was captured on the dive site known as “Black Coral Forest” off NorthWest Point, Providenciales using a Canon Powershot A640 in a Canon underwater housing. Winners in the past have been from the United States, Canada, South Africa and Italy, but this is the first time a local resident has placed in the top three in the annual Turks & Caicos Underwater Photographic Competition...
