Tour Aquarius: Inside and Out
By Angela Messina, July 17, 2012 @ 09:06 AM (EST)

Take a look around Aquarius reef base, the last existing undersea base in the world. Located in Key West Florida, Aquarius is home to aquanauts during their extended stays underwater when doing research and exploration. Now without NOAA funding, Aquarius might shut down and cease operations forever.

In this new video, hosted by underwater journalist Brian Lam and created by One World One Ocean, you can see both inside and outside Aquarius and meet the aquanauts currently staying there.

See inside this tiny home base, including the kitchen, control panels, decompression room, and bunks. View it from the outside as well, where its long stay on the ocean floor is apparent through the layers of coral, barnacles, and other sea life that live on and around Aquarius.

Take a look here.
