As part of Taiwan’s ongoing centennial celebration, aquarium artists have constructed the world’s longest aquarium in Taipei.
The aquarium, nearly 110 feet in length, features landmarks and scenery from Taiwan alongside 100 species of native cichlid fish. More than 28 tons of water fill the tank, which is connected with a curved tank displaying waterfalls.
"We tried to come up with ideas and looked up information on the landmarks that are the most familiar to people,” said Lai Yung-sheng, the aquarium’s artist. “That's how it was done."
The aquarium was tested twice before being opened to the public, and was exhibited in Taipei through the weekend at the Taiwan International Ornamental Fish Expo. For a video of this impressive display, click here.
