Following the October release of version 2.0 of the firmware for the a7 III and a7R III, Sony suddenly removed the download from its website earlier this month, apologizing for a bug that could result in the cameras from ceasing to function while writing RAW data to “an SD card that has already been used multiple times.” Sony has now released firmware version 2.1, which is supposed to have fixed the problem.
The firmware updates for the a7 III (Mac/Windows) and a7R III (Mac/Windows) are available now. If your camera is running version 2.0, you should upgrade to version 2.1 immediately.
