How do you make a trip diving the spectacular walls of North Sulawesi’s Bunaken Marine Park even better? Add on the stunning coral gardens and exciting critter hunting of nearby Bangka Island, of course! Combining these two awesome destinations just got a lot easier with Siladen Resort—located in the heart of Bunaken—joining forces with a one-of-a-kind boutique resort on Bangka Island called Coral Eye.
Coral Eye began life in 2009 when four passionate marine biologists established a “marine outpost” in the heart of the Coral Triangle, on Bangka Island—“where universities and students could exchange ideas and develop their projects on tropical marine environments.” After subsequently setting up a dive center, Coral Eye also began welcoming tourists, and now the operation offers visitors a unique opportunity to mingle with scientists and students undertaking scientific research on the reef.
As partners, Siladen and Coral Eye have made it very easy to book a trip that combines diving and stays with both resorts—and you can even opt to transfer between resorts by boat and keep diving on the way. For more information, including on how to book a combo trip, check out the press release below.
Siladen Resort Joins Forces with Coral Eye, Bangka Island, North Sulawesi
Siladen Resort & Spa is delighted to introduce you to our preferred dive resort partner in Bangka Island, Coral Eye. Ana Fonseca, Miguel Ribeiro and Daniele Marianelli of Siladen Resort have partnered with Marco Segre, CEO and founder of Coral Eye, to invest in this beautiful resort project.
Daniele met Marco when he came to Indonesia to work on his Marine Biology thesis. He was based at Siladen Island, and being a fellow Italian, naturally became friends with Daniele. Over the years, when Marco realized he would like to follow his dream by building Coral Eye on Bangka, Daniele became a frequent guest of Marco’s. When the pandemic hit, they turned to each other for advice and support, which only served to reinforce their friendship.
So, it was only natural they took it a step further to become business partners as common shareholders of Coral Eye. With this partnership, along with Miguel and Ana, they are committed to investing in improving Coral Eye’s facilities and guest services, while preserving the unique identity of the resort.
For those who wish to spend some time in Bangka, diving and snorkeling the beautiful soft coral slopes of this area, we are very happy to recommend Coral Eye.
