British magazine DIVE has announced the winners of its 2018 Travel Awards, and impressively, Siladen Resort and Spa in North Sulawesi has once again taken the award for “Best Dive Centre or Resort”—having won it for the first time last year. Indonesia was again voted the world’s top scuba diving destination (by a mile), and Indonesia-based Dewi Nusantara snagged best liveaboard. That’s a clean sweep for Indo!
More than 30,000 individual votes were cast across the three categories, with 461 dive centers or resorts, 208 liveaboards, and 71 destinations in the running. In the “Destination” category, the runners-up were the Philippines and Egypt. Second and third place in the “Dive Centre or Resort” category, respectively, were Bunaken Oasis Resort & Spa (a stone’s throw from Siladen) and Ceningan Divers, on a small island south of Bali between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. The other awarded liveaboards also ply Indonesia’s waters: MSV Amira in second place, and MV Pelagian, which is operated by Wakatobi Resort.
