Shark Tourism Banned in Western Australia

Norman Moore, the Australian fisheries minister, announced plans on Monday to ban shark tourism in Western Australia. This comes after a string of fatal shark attacks—four in the region in the past year alone.
In his public email announcement, Moore explained that because the waters of Western Australia attract a smaller population of sharks, cage dive operators may be luring sharks into the area by feeding them, contributing to the abnormal shark behavior seen in the region. Because of this, cage diving will be banned from the area.
