SeaLife has announced the latest addition to its Sea Dragon range of photo/video lights: the Sea Dragon 5000+. Unveiled at the recent DEMA Show, the light features a COB LED array delivering 5,000 lumens and offering a color rendering index (CRI) of 90—meaning that the light quality is very similar to sunlight. The Sea Dragon 5000+ has a beam angle of 120° (90° underwater), a color temperature of 5000K, and a runtime of an hour at full power. SeaLife says the light is more compact and weighs less than its predecessor, the 5000F.
The main distinguishing feature of the new light is a special mode called SeaLife Color Boost, which “combines red and white light frequencies to produce a warming underwater effect that increases brilliance and adds colors to underwater photos and video.” In this mode, the color temperature drops to 3700K, resulting in warmer colors. Another distinguishing feature is the “over-drive” mode, which increases brightness to 6,000 lumens for two minutes before automatically returning to normal full power of 5,000 lumens. The over-drive feature can be used with or without SeaLife Color Boost.
By default, the Sea Dragon 5000+ offers five light options in “Easy Mode” but engaging “Advanced Mode” (by pressing and holding the main button for eight seconds) gives the user more control over settings. Finally, holding down the main button for four seconds puts the light in Emergency Signal Mode, where you can toggle between two options: an SOS signal or a 1-second blinking light.
Available from December 2022, the Sea Dragon 5000+ will cost $600. The light head comes with battery, charger, and YS adapter, 1-inch ball joint adapter, and Flex-Connect adapter—SeaLife’s proprietary one-click flex arm system.

SeaLife Introduces Sea Dragon 5000+ Professional Photo-Video Light with SeaLife Color Boost™
MOORESTOWN, NJ - SeaLife introduces their new compact Sea Dragon 5000+ Photo-Video light. The Sea Dragon 5000+ photo-video light is a high-performance underwater lamp delivering 5000 lumens in a smooth 120° wide beam. The light offers a 90 CRI (color rendering index) with a proprietary COB LED array that replicates natural sunlight (A CRI of 100 would be just like natural sunlight). With the addition of the newly patent pending SeaLife Color Boost™ mode, the photo-video light combines red and white light frequencies to produce a warming underwater effect that increases brilliance and adds colors to underwater photos and video. The Sea Dragon 5000+ is depth tested to 330 feet (100 meters).
Other underwater LED light brands offer a much lower CRI and miss critical color components necessary to produce natural and colorful undersea images and videos; the Sea Dragon 5000+ powers on at 5000 lumens of white light at 5000k color temperature. When the SeaLife Color Boost™ is activated, the color temperature warms to 3700k, which replenishes lost red for a balanced effect, especially shooting at longer distances. The Sea Dragon 5000+ also has an over-drive feature that allows brightness output of 6000 lumens for 2 minutes time, with or without Color Boost™ (6000 lumen Color Boost = 4000k color temp.), and then automatically returns to 5000 lumens to regulate temperature and power consumption. Accessing Color Boost™ is easy, by simply pushing the mode button once. Divers can adjust the brightness from 3000 lumens (3000 lumen Color Boost = 2700k color temp.), 1500 lumens, and red-only stealth mode which uses two red LEDs that allows for night dives that will not scare sea creatures.
The Sea Dragon 5000+ also features an “Advanced Mode” with more brightness and color settings, including more Color Boost™ options. The light automatically starts in “Easy Mode” with 5 light options. The user can easily change to Advanced Mode by pushing and holding the light’s central push-button for 8 seconds from the power-off state. The light also has an Emergency Signal Mode—pushing and holding the central push-button from the off position for 4 seconds accesses the emergency mode with a 40+ hour run time. This will flash an SOS signal or, by touching the button again, a 1-second blinking light.
The 5000+ lighter and smaller than its 5000F lumen predecessor. The light head includes standard YS adapter, Flex-Connect™ YS Adapter, and 1” ball joint adapter for easy expansion with any YS, Flex-Connect, or 1” ball joint system’s arms, grips, trays, and mounts. The buoyancy is negative underwater.
The Sea Dragon 5000+ with its powerful 50W Li-ion removeable battery pack, will power the light for 1 hour with Color Boost™ at full power. The light includes an AC battery charger, and international plug adapters and a protective travel case.
The Sea Dragon 5000+ Light will be available at SeaLife dealers in December 2022.
