Seacam Unveils Housing for the Nikon Z8
By DPG Editorial Staff, September 6, 2023 @ 10:00 AM (EST)

After launching its housing for the Nikon Z9 at the end of last year, Seacam has now unveiled its housing for the “baby Z9”—the Z8. As well as having a very similar spec sheet to the Z9, the Z8 also has much in common physically with the flagship camera: different form factors aside, the controls are essentially in the same positions on the two models.

By the same token, the Seacam Z8 silver housing is very similar in terms of control layout to the company’s housing for the Z9, as well as having the same premium construction. The Z8 housing is milled from a saltwater-proof light metal alloy that is twice hardened and anodized, and the two housing shells are secured with Seacam’s titanium Safety Lock fastening system. Top-quality materials are used throughout, including stainless steel and anodized aluminum buttons and dials, which offer full control over the camera’s functions.

Depth-rated to 260 feet (80 meters), the housing features removeable integrated handles and a window for viewing the camera’s LCD. As well as making use of the latest Z-mount lenses, you also have the option of using F-mount lenses via Nikon’s FTZ adapter. The housing can be configured with S6 or N5 bulkheads for reliable electrical strobe triggering, and you have the option of connecting a monitor/recorder via HDMI. Seacam’s optical-acoustic leak detector is fitted as standard, with the vacuum valve and pump purchased separately.

The Seacam housing for the Z8 is available from retailers such as Backscatter, where it is priced at $5,710.
