Seacam has announced the launch of its first Seacam Center in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. The Austrian maker of high-end underwater photography gear has partnered with Sorido Bay Resort, which is one of two resorts on Kri Island—the other being Kri Eco Resort—run by Papua Diving Resorts, a pioneering operator in Raja Ampat.
The partnership allows guests to “explore the world’s richest reefs with state-of-the-art accommodation and camera equipment,” with the center offering courses and workshops as well as individual tuition in combination with epic dives on some of the richest reefs in the world, all while staying at the PADI 5‑Star Sorido Bay Resort.
The Seacam Center’s 7–10-day photography workshops, hosted by world-class Seacam Ambassadors and photographers, promise to provide a valuable opportunity to learn from the top pros while test-driving Seacam’s latest housings, strobes and optics. Various topics will be covered in the workshops, including macro, wide-angle macro, and wide-angle shooting, with in-classroom sessions in the mornings, two daily in-water sessions at various dive sites, and review and critique sessions in the afternoons. There will also be early evening sessions on how to use Photoshop and Lightroom to create great final images. Workshop attendees receive free-of-charge two-hour remote coaching sessions to review images and reinforce learning.
Celebrating the launch of the Raja Ampat Seacam Center, the inaugural workshop, from August 25th to September 1st, is free of charge for all Sorido Bay Resort guests staying during the workshop period. You don’t have to be a Seacam user to take part, but keep in mind that you may be so smitten by those beautiful silver housings that you will want to be after the workshop!
If you’re interested in participating in the workshop, head over to the Papua Diving Resorts website to book your spot at Sorido Bay Resort. More details about the new Seacam Center are available on the Seacam website.
