Sea&Sea Announces New Leak Alarm Unit
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, March 7, 2022 @ 06:00 AM (EST)

Sea&Sea has announced a new leak alarm unit compatible with its Nikon, Canon and Sony MDX housings, such as the MDX-Z7II for the Nikon Z7II/Z6II, MDX-R5 for Canon EOS R5, and MDX-α7III for the Sony α7III/α7RIII.

As with similar moisture alarms, the device features a multicolored LED, visible through the housing’s monitor window, which indicates when a vacuum has been established inside the housing (via the included manual pump) and when a leak inside the housing is detected. The alarm unit uses a coin cell battery and runs for around 250 hours, according to Sea&Sea.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Leak Alarm Unit

Product No.46135

An alarm unit that prevents water leakage by creating negative pressure inside the housing and monitoring the change of pressure. The air pressure sensor and leak sensor function doubly. On land, the waterproof properties of the shield can be checked when the camera is set. In water, the leak sensor reacts and issues alerts with an LED indicator if water leaks into the housing.

Advanced function installed!

Measures air pressure and occurrence or non-occurrence of water leakage in the housing every 0.2 seconds (200ms). It constantly monitors the inside of the housing.

Judges the air pressure value by converting the temperature to 20℃. It does not allow malfunction caused by pressure fluctuations due to heat generated by the camera or changes in water temperature.

Battery life is about 250 hours when the power is on. One battery charge enables long-term usage.

Leak Sensor

It monitors the air pressure inside the housing caused by negative pressure build up created by the vacuum valve. It notifies the seal condition with 3-color LED lighting/flashing and an alarm.

Valve

It attaches to the housing accessory port and sucks out the air from inside the housing using the included manual pump.

3-colored LED Indicator

Flashing Red
Flashes red when the switch is turned ON.

When air enters the housing and it becomes equivalent to external pressure.

Flashing Orange
While sucking out the air. If a leak (internal pressure change) is detected after suction, a rapid orange flashing alert will show.

Flashing Green
The air has been sucked out and negative pressure is maintained inside the housing.

Red Light
Water leakage has occurred in the housing.

If red, orange and green LED flash rapidly, it is an alert for battery drain.

It can be additionally attached to your housing. We offer an attachment service to the SEA&SEA MDX-type housing you use regularly.
