The readers of Scuba Diving magazine have once again crowned the world’s top destinations, operators, resorts and liveaboards. This year, the annual survey was conducted a little differently because the pandemic prevented many readers from traveling for most of the past two years. Thus, survey organizers averaged reader-submitted data from the past three surveys to “try to give you an idea of not only which dive operators, liveaboards and resorts have been exceeding divers’ expectations during the pandemic, but which ones are poised to bring back that level of excellence once steady travel returns to their particular destination.”
The “best overall” destinations were Bonaire (Caribbean and Atlantic), Hawaii (Pacific and Indian), and Florida Keys (United States and Canada). The top resorts were CocoView Resort in Roatán, Honduras (Caribbean and Atlantic), Wakatobi Dive Resort in South Sulawesi, Indonesia (Pacific and Indian), and Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo (United States and Canada). The best liveaboards were Aqua Cat in The Bahamas (Caribbean and Atlantic) and the Arenui in Indonesia (Pacific and Indian). Finally, the best operators were Dive with Martin in Cozumel, Mexico (Caribbean and Atlantic), Kona Honu Divers, Hawaii (Pacific and Indian), and Rainbow Reef in Key Largo (United States and Canada).
These overall winners only tell a small portion of the story, though: There are dozens more destinations, resorts, liveaboards and operators that received high scores and serve as great starting points for research on your future dive adventures. Check them all out here.
