Scuba Diver Ocean Planet Issue 5 Out Now
By Ian Seldrup, September 15, 2015 @ 04:00 AM (EST)

Issue 5 of Scuba Diver OCEAN PLANET (SDOP) has just been released and will soon be available to subscribers and on magazine shelves in selected countries. In this “Edgy & Extreme” edition, we explore the ocean’s farthest reaches, from far-flung destinations to the very edges of the continents. We come face to face with saltwater crocs, discover the smart strategies used by manta rays, brave subzero temperatures to find orcas on the hunt in the Arctic, and follow some of the creatures at the edge of extinction in Africa.

The Through the Lens section provides techniques and inspiration for photographers and videographers “from the edge” too. We meet Bill Macdonald and his pioneering 360-degree video rigs, Becky Kagan Schott discusses the merits of using rebreathers for recreational diving, and Tim Ho tells you how to push your humble compact camera to its limits. Oh, and we’ve got lots of suitably “out there” images to inspire your next wild adventure, like this month’s cover shot by regular SDOP contributor and DPG Photographer of the Week Scott “Gutsy” Tuason

Check out the full contents here.

Subscriptions to SDOP are available from the DPG Shop. SDOP is an evolution of Scuba Diver THROUGH THE LENS (SDTTL), and covers not just underwater photography but also dive travel and lifestyle.
