The University of Miami Rosenstiel School is now accepting entries for its annual underwater photography contest.
The contest is divided into three categories:
1) Fish or Marine Animal Portrait,
2) Macro, and
3) Wide Angle photography.
The contest will also recognize the best UM student submission and Best Overall submission. Top prize is a trip on Blackbeard's Cruises, departing from Freeport, Bahamas, and $300. Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2008.
Winners will be announced at the Rosenstiel School's Sea Secrets Lecture Series presentation on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Rosenstiel School Auditorium, 4600 Rickenbacker Causeway, Virginia Key. Dr. Michael Schmale, underwater photographer and Rosenstiel professor is that evening's lecturer, discussing, “Light & Color on Coral Reefs.” The reception to recognize the winners will take place after the lecture, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the Rosenstiel School's Library. All events are free and open to the public; however, seating is limited.
