Last week I started writing the 3D overview and finished it up early this week. In it I mentioned that it looks like there is a good chance that 3D will stick this time out. Since then the announcments continue to roll.
Sony had the α55 and α55 dSLRs yesterday and Gates announced that they will have a prototype of the Panasonic 3DA1 housing for the Panasonic AG-3DA1.
And then ViewSonic jumped into the fray by announcing various products, which includes a 3D Camcorder and a a portable 3D TV, no glasses required. They have also announced a 3D camera and a 3D photoframe. Though it's worth pointing out that the cameras are similar to a Aipteki2 and may just be a rebadge of the Aipteki2, which was covered in my 3D overview.

ViewSonic noted in their press release "We believe by making 3D simple to use, whilst providing a complete solution, we can introduce 3D technology to consumers who were hesitant about new technology or concerned about the cost." Good idea. ViewSonic will show these products at the beginning of September at IFA 2010 . With Photokina coming the end of September, looks like it can be a pretty wild ride the next month and or so.
After we hear what the holiday shopping numbers are in terms of sales of 3D equipment, and then find out what CES rolls has in store in January, 2011, it very well could be that 3D has firmly established a foothold that will "Stick" this time.
