MUESA has announced an inaugural edition of a global art project called “Project Water.”
Project Water invites photographers from across the globe to submit photos of human interaction with water to be published in a photo book. In addition, 100 percent of the book’s profits from being sold online will benefit non-profit organizations seeking to provide people with clean drinking water.
Although much conservational awareness in the diving community seems rightfully aimed at protecting reefs, fish populations, and sharks in the ocean, it is important to remember that more than 1 billion people lack safe drinking water. According to the press release, ideal pictures for the project are to “evoke a sensation of thirst, refreshment and fluidity.” Examples range from children playing in fountains, various forms of underwater photography, or remote fresh-water sources.
There is no cost to participate in the project- just visit the official Project website for entry details. Project Water will be accepting entries until December 31st, 2011, after which images will be culled down to fit into the published book. You can bet we here at DPG will be entering our favorite pictures long before the deadline!
