OWC Unveils Envoy Pro FX “Ultra Rugged” SSD

OWC has announced a new “ultra rugged” SSD—the Envoy Pro FX—offering sequential read/write speeds of up to 2,800MB/s. The SSD is housed in aluminum, giving it an IP67 waterproof rating as well as acting as a heat sink.
The Envoy Pro FX is plug-and-play with any device with a USB-A, USB-C or Thunderbolt connection, but if you want the ultra-fast 2800MB/s read/write speeds, you’ll need to have a Thunderbolt 3-compatible device. A USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection will limit the max speed to 1,250MB/s, as dictated by the port.
The 240GB, 480GB, 1TB and 2TB versions of the Envoy Pro FX are priced at $170, $200, $300 and $480, respectively, and are available from OWC’s online store.
