The Our World Underwater international underwater photography and video competition winners have been announced. This competition has become known as the "Superbowl" of underwater imaging events and celebrates and highlights both art of underwater photography as well as the beauty of the ocean.

This year the celebrity panel of judges  went through thousands of images and videos taken by novice to professional photographers from around the world.

$50,000 in prizes were awarded to the winners, who represented more than 15 countries. Congratulations to Sumer Verma who won Best of Show for his 1st place image from the Wide Angle Unrestricted category.

This marks the completion of the 9th annual OWU competition and we are so proud of how far the competition has come. DPG and Wetpixel look forward to seeing all the amazing entries each year, and we're honored to present the amazing prizes to the winners. Since it's inception, the Underwater Competition series has awarded well over $500,000 in prizes to some of the best underwater images taken. That's pretty great.
