By Matt J. Weiss, February 2, 2010 @ 02:46 PM (EST)
Let the games begin! With PMA on the horizon we are bound to see a whole bunch of the new camera releases in the upcoming weeks. We have a rumors page that is being updated, but Olympus officially unveiled some new compacts.
The most important to the underwater photography world are two new rugged models, the Stylus Tough 8010 and 6020. Both are up to the new compact resolution standard of 14 megapixels, shoot HD movies, have a 5x optical zoom lens and a 2.7" rear LCD. Both are shock, freeze, crush and water proof, but the 6020 can only withstand a 5 foot drop while the 8010 can withstand a 6.6 foot fall.

Both are rated to 10m/33ft and the 8010 even has a built in manometer for water pressure calculation. Additionally, Olympus continues offer its compact cameras with SD support, which should be standard from now on. They will be out in march and cost $399.99 for the 8010 and $299.99 for the 6020.

Olympus also introduced two super-zoom compacts, the SP-800UZ and the SP-600UZ with impressive 30x and 15x optical zoom lenses respectively. I doubt these will get housings but I'll be on the look out.
