By Matt J. Weiss, August 20, 2010 @ 11:41 AM (EST)
Nocturnal Lights has introduced the Keldan Luna 8 LA-V LED video light. I always get excited about new Keldan and Nocturnal Lights release because I know they are going to be some seriously classy lights. Keldan has a reputation for putting out only the highest quality lights and the Luna 8 LA-V LED looks to be no exception.  Full information in the press release below and full specs in the equipment section.

Press Release-
Nocturnal Lights is proud to introduce the Keldan Luna 8 LA-V LED Underwater Video Lights for professional video and dSLR housings.  The Luna 8 LA-V uses a proprietary 40w LED which produces 3100 lumen from the bulb, which translates to 2100 measured lumens with an ultra high color CRI of 95 (Ra).   The dome port with the internal diffusers allows the beam to be wide and smooth.  These unique features allow you to shoot the most stunning shots which cannot be achieved otherwise.

The Luna 8 LA-V uses a magnetic switch that gives you the flexibility to choose five output levels between 10 to 40 watts.   The burn time on 10 watts is 320 minutes while the burn time on 40 watts is 80 minutes.  There is also a test mode, which allows you to check the battery life on its rechargeable lithium ion battery pack.   The eight level charge display built into the battery pack allows you to view the battery level from the back of the light.  The batteries takes about 4 hours for a full charge and spare batteries are available for shooters who need longer burn times.  The international 110v to 240v charger comes with international adapters.

The aluminum housing, double o-ring, and the magnetic switch allows you to shoot as deep as 656’ (200 m) without any worries.  Including the batteries the light weighs only 2.5lbs on land and .31lbs underwater, making it easy to travel with and very maneuverable underwater.  On top of that, the light will operate above water for topside shooting. It is simply the ultimate video light for serious underwater videographers.

The light comes with a standard “YS” style mount, which will work with many flex arms.  Ball joint adapters are available as an accessory for any 1” ball joint style arms.  The lights can be mounted on any housing through the handle, a tray, on your housing, or on the hot shoe mount.  Nocturnal Lights has also put together flex arm packages for most underwater housings in the market.   Custom ball joint arm setups are also available.
