Nikon D500s Falsely Shows Empty Battery

If your Nikon D500 just doesn’t seem to last as it should, then you’re not alone. In fact, this very author is with you. And so are many others.

Reports are accumulating that Nikon D500 shows that the battery is empty, despite having more than 25 percent of the charge left. The trend was solidified by a report published by Nikon Rumors, which is titled “Batterygate.”

“My conclusion is that all D500 cameras by design measure remaining capacity of battery lower than other Nikon bodies,” the report reads.

While this is interesting news on its own, the real problem is that a battery with 25 percent battery becomes essentially useless. No word from Nikon on when this problem will be addressed, but it seems fixable with a firmware update.
