Chinese company Yi Technology has announced it will be unveiling a first for action cameras at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 in Las Vegas, January 5–8: 4K video at 60fps. The YI 4K+ is an update of the company’s YI 4K model, which is on par with the current GoPro Hero 5 Black in offering a frame rate of 30fps. The announcement of the higher spec’d camera is sure to rattle Yi’s U.S. competitor.
Sean Da, CEO of YI Technology, said: “2016 has been a whirlwind of product launches including several new action and home security cameras, the YI Erida drone, our first mirrorless camera the YI M1, as well as an exciting partnership with Google to develop a virtual reality camera rig.”
The drone Da mentions—billed as the world’s fastest tricopter—will also be demonstrated at the U.S. show for the first time. Supporting the YI 4K cameras and controlled by the corresponding YI Erida mobile app, the YI Erida “smart drone” has a top speed of 75mph, flies for up to 40 minutes per charge, and features an advanced sensor and radar system.
