New Wrasse Named in Honor of Paul Humann

A lovely bit of news today from our friends Anna and Ned DeLoach—it appears that a wrasse that they discovered a few years ago has been named in honor of underwater fish photog extraordinaire Paul Humann.
The new wrasse species, now named Cirrhilabrus humanni, was discovered two years ago on a reef in Alor, as described by Anna in her latest Blenny Watcher Blog post. When asked to name the new fish by scientists putting together a new fish ID book, Anna and Ned knew right away what they had in mind.
“To our delight, he offered us the honor of naming it,” writes Anna in her blog. “We suggested naming it after our partner, renowned underwater photographer Paul Humann.”
