News
Earlier this year New World Publication, one of the world's leaders in ocean life ID books, released their popular Reef Fish Identification: Tropical Pacific in ebook format. This is, of course a joy for all of us photographers who are already over baggage allowance and don't have the room for hard copy books anymore. Some more good news - the Reef Creature companion book is now available in digital format as well through Blio.

The Reef Creature edition is probably even more enticing to photographers, who value the small critters more than most divers. The field guide, which features 1,600 of the regions critters, is available now from Bilo. More information in the press release below.

In January 2012 we premiered the Reef Fish Identification: Tropical Pacific ebook. Now you can take a copy of the companion ebook Reef Creature Identification – Tropical Pacific with you as well! The new ebook is available in Blio format for Android, iPad, iTouch, iPhone and Windows PC computers.
Sixteen hundred species of marine invertebrates are searchable through a page-specific table of contents as well as a scrolling tool bar. On the iPad, iPhone or iTouch you can directly access a subject by typing in a species’ name. Blio provides the ability to highlight text, bookmark items and even keep notes on photos (like when and where a particular animal is encountered). Where Internet access is available, further research questions can be accessed and answered on Google, Bing and Wikipedia searches with a single click.
The Reef Creature Identification – Tropical Pacific, was originally published in 2010 as the most comprehensive and user-friendly field guide to the invertebrates of the region. More than 2,000 underwater photographs identify 1,600 creatures from Thailand to Tahiti. Most useful for a field guide, every effort has been made to group similar appearing species together for quick visual reference.
The Blio format, distributed by Baker and Taylor Inc., was developed by KNFB reading technology. Blio is currently available as an app through Apple’s iOS system and Android. The app comes pre-installed on all new HP, Toshiba and Dell laptop computers as well as T-Mobile phones. You can download Blio for free to your device and learn more about the software at Blio.com. Currently, the Blio app is available in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Mexico.
