New Video: Guido Schmitz’s “Nudibranchs of Gulen”
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, May 31, 2019 @ 04:00 AM (EST)
If you think of diving in Norway, things that may come to mind are orcas, shipwrecks, and kelp forests. But it’s the small stuff that really pops on the chilly house reef of Gulen Dive Resort—specifically nudis.
For an excellent introduction to the region’s multihued marine gastropod mollusks, check out the new short film by Guido Schmitz, Gulen Dive Resort’s center manager. And if you think you have to be in the tropics to see Technicolor nudibranchs, think again—Gulen’s sea slugs come in just as many colorful shapes and sizes as their counterparts in Lembeh or Anilao.
The film was captured using a GoPro HERO5 Black, Backscatter Macromate Mini close-up lens, and Nanight video lights. Check it out below.
