New Species of Sea Anemone Discovered in Antarctica

When doing research on the Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica, scientists were surprised to find a new species of sea anemone living on the underside of the ice. Although sea anemones have been discovered in the area before, no one has ever seen them living on the ice itself.
The new species, named Edwardsiella andrillae, lives in the nooks and crannies of the ice and extends its tentacles into the icy water to feed on passing detritus.
The team of scientists was using a robot to survey ocean currents when the discovery was made. They found a variety of other wildlife as well, including marine worms, amphipods, fish that swim upside down, and an unknown creature that resembles a sea cucumber.
